Sustainability in SMEs
We understand that energy use by the majority of businesses
are far from being efficient and therefore it leaves plenty of room for
improvements. With the continue rise of the energy cost and the capping of
carbon emissions. Businesses are facing a future of constraints. Therefore,
acquiring energy efficient practices is no longer an option but a
necessity. An environmentally friendly business will gain public recognition
and would be able to differentiate its offering from competitors in today's
environmentally conscious marketplace. For those businesses that yet to address
energy efficiency are most likely to find their long-term financial performance
to be significantly affected in a negative way. Meanwhile, for those that seek
continuous improvement in energy efficiency are likely to steal a march over
competitors.
Our service
There are 2 phases to the service that we offered:
Phase 1 : Auditing
We conduct comprehensive on-site energy audit to examine our clients
past and current energy use, aiming at identifying the key factors that
contribute to excessive energy usage or wastage as a result of regular business
operations. The auditing procedures are carried out in accordance with AS/NZS
3598:2000, Australian standard for commissioning and conducting energy audits.
Energy audits are divided into 3 levels that varies in
complexity and details which outlined below:
Level 1
Energy Audit - Basic/walk-through audit
Most
basic of all, Preliminary analysis made to assess energy efficiency which
involved a brief analysis of utilities bill and conducting a survey to produce
a rough estimate of how efficiently energy is used. This level of audit will
detect at least some of the "low-hanging fruit" and may suggest other
options worthy of further investigations.
Level 2
Energy Audit - Intermediate/detailed or general energy audit
At this
level, much detailed analysis is carried out and by adding in system
performance testing, to provide a further breakdown of how energy is used as
well as identifying a wide range of saving options that ranging from low to
medium cost capital investments that meet the owner’s constraints and economic
criteria. It accounts for the "people factor" and its effect on
uncertainty of savings, and also explores maintenance procedures and assesses
any impacts savings measures may have on them. This level of audit is
sufficient enough for most SMEs.
Level 3
Energy Audit - Advanced/Investment-grade audit
This is the most comprehensive, detailed
and complicated level of audit as per the standard that have an emphasis on
potential capital-intensive projects. Even more detailed data is gathered from
field equipment, extensive test measurements are taken which may include
spot-measurements and short-term energy monitoring, possible risks are
assessed, and intensive engineering and economic analysis produces reliable
estimates of project energy and financial performance with the high confidence
needed for major capital investment decisions. This level of audit is most
suitable for large corporations and industrial sectors.
For SMEs, we conduct level 2 energy audit as the scope
covered under this level is most suitable and sufficient.
Phase 2 : Solutions
Based on the information that gathered through auditing process, we are
able to develop tailored sustainable action plan for our clients which
outlined:
· Areas
with major impacts that required upmost attention for improvement
· Recommendations
on various affordable and cost effective energy savings strategies to reduce
utilities cost and greenhouse emissions
· Financial
benefits on implementing sustainable measures
· Projected
return on investment
