Residential Energy Assessment

Sustainability in Residential

In the past, majority of residential homes weren’t built to perform sustainably. Even after the building authority, BCA introduced energy efficiency requirements in 2003, dwellings that were built since then still leaves plenty of rooms for further improvements in term of energy efficiency. Every year, more dwellings are built compare to the population base, the sizes are getting larger and the significant growth in the number of appliances within all households due to technological advancement and the demands for it. Research has shown that each year the average Australian household contributes 13 tonnes of greenhouse gas to the atmosphere which are equivalent to the filling of more than 700 balloons a day.

With the projected rise in electricity cost over the coming years and the growing awareness of climate change issues, householders are feeling the pinch financially and are looking for ways to reduce their energy use and greenhouse emissions.
